Elizabeth Dickson Lang, wife of The Honorable Conrad H. Lang, Jr., Chairman Emeritus of the Hudson Valley Board of Trustees and mother of

Valerie Lang Waldin, Associate Professor Librarian Emerita, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 22. An obituary will be forthcoming and will be posted in the Chronicle and in local newspapers.
Val shares this statement with the campus:
To our HVCC family:
On the morning of July 22, 2022, Elizabeth Dickson Lang, wife of Hudson Valley Chairman of the Board Emeritus Conrad H. Lang, Jr., and our beautiful mother, died at approximately 10 AM. She had fought cancer, heart and kidney failure and other illnesses that suddenly crept up on her — and all of us– since May of 2020. We were determined as a family to keep her in her home and love her with all of our being until the end. We did that.
Many of you knew her. If you didn’t, you would have been inspired and invigorated by this fearless, spirited icon. Her heyday was in the ’50s and she never lost that era of carefree innocence and fire in her heart.
Our family is tired. She knew this; she was tired, and we feel her flying highly above us bestowing the love she gave so selflessly for 61 years as a parent, and 65 years as a wife.
There will be a plenitude of photographs and a compelling eulogy at her service on Friday, August 5th, at St. Henry’s Church in Averill Park. Viewing hours will be between 1 PM – 3:45 PM, followed by a Mass at 4:00 PM. A private burial will take place at another date.
Bette’s obituary will be forthcoming.
Finally, in closing, for the last 2 years we have done everything in our power to keep her fire burning. We added logs when the flame was dimming. This week we fanned the embers. This morning the fire burned out but her warmth will be with us forever. Mom passed this morning, peacefully and on her terms. We will treasure her forever. Rest Mom, we’ve got this.
